South Staffordshire College rated GOOD by Ofsted
Staff at South Staffordshire College are celebrating after receiving a ‘good’ status rating from Ofsted in its recent inspection.
A team of 10 inspectors visited the college in November as part of the rigorous four-day assessment, which looked at all areas of the colleges provision.
In the report published today, the college scored ‘good’ in the following categories – the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, education programmes for young people, adult learning programmes, and provision for learners with high needs.
Inspectors noted that “leaders and teachers have high expectations of learners and apprentices’ and have created ‘inviting and well-resourced environments to learn and practice skills”. They also remarked, “as a result, learners work well together – their conduct reflecting the calm and orderly behaviours expected in the workplace”.
Praise was given by Ofsted stating, “teachers know their learners very well and work closely with support staff to meet their individual needs”.
The report also highlighted that “as a result of well-planned and productive work-experience placements, learners on study programmes develop a good understanding of the world of work”.
Ofsted also noted “the effective relationships the college has built with and secured investment from the local enterprise partnerships and local authority. This has allowed leaders to make significant investment into a range of projects to teach the skills most in demand”.
Chief Executive Principal of South Staffordshire College, Claire Boliver said “I am delighted that Ofsted has recognised South Staffordshire College as a ‘good’ provider. I am proud of all staff across the college who have continued to work tirelessly to ensure our college is a safe and inviting place where learners thrive and meet the high expectations, we have for them”.
