  • Is this course for you?

Our Foundation Degree in Computer Games Design explores the creative and technical aspects of games production, giving you the necessary skills to develop, produce and publish games titles.

You’ll develop your skills by using industry standard software and hardware such as 3ds Max, Unreal Engine and Adobe Substance Suite. Using professional techniques acquired through lectures, tutorials and group projects, you will develop a portfolio of industry standard work.

Our Foundation Degree course through the University of Staffordshire is a FdSc qualification equivalent of both Level 4 and 5. The course is designed to progress and enhance the skills and techniques previously studied from a Level 3 games course to prepare you for either further study at Level 6, or in readiness for your employment in the gaming industry.

The course is delivered over 2 years with Year 1 being the Cert HE followed by the FdSc in Year 2. When you have completed the FdSc in Computer Games Design, you will have the option of moving into employment or completing a top-up year, to gain a full bachelor’s degree, such as through the University of Staffordshire.

On successful completion of the FdSc Computer Games Design award, students will be awarded a University of Staffordshire degree.

The UCAS course code is I736 and applicants will need to select campus U.

  • Required qualifications

Students should have previously studied a Level 3 games course, such as getting a Merit in a UAL course, or MMP in a BTEC course. If you have not achieved these grades your applications are still welcome but will be subject to an interview and portfolio check. Students should also have GCSE English and maths at grade 9-4 (A*-C).
