The music industry offers a diverse and exciting range of opportunities from live performances to sound engineering, studio production, composition, song writing, artist, events management and even education and training. The music industry is a global marketplace with opportunities around the world. The skills developed on this course extend to the wider creative industries.
It’s an exciting era for our music department, as our new cutting-edge studio provides students with hands-on experience to enhance their musical education and creativity, while ensuring they are well prepared for future careers in the music industry. These state-of-the-art facilities include four rehearsal rooms, a live room, a control room, and a vocal booth, as well as two large classrooms equipped with Apple iMacs.

Taking part in live performances is invaluable real-world experience for our students, so there will be plenty of opportunities to do so during your time with us.
These include performing in local venues, bars, clubs, and festivals; taking part in our ‘Introducing Nights’ gigs at the studio in the Lichfield Garrick Theatre; performing at our student awards at Lichfield Cathedral; playing in the pit band for our end-of-year Performing Arts show; and contributing to open mic sessions and wider college events.
All of our staff are active practitioners, who are still working within the industry.
You will take part in real performances in bars, clubs, festivals and theatres.

Our courses equips you with the skills needed to navigate the modern creative industries, building and maintaining a portfolio career and exploring many different aspects of the music industry and the day-to-day career of a working musician.
As well as achieving a nationally recognised qualification in music from the University of the Arts London you will develop the industry specific skills allowing you to navigate the constantly changing world of the creative industries.
You will be taught through a combination of classroom, studio and real-world performances and productions in local venues and theatres. Your coursework will be entirely project based, reflecting the demands, the nature and the reality of the modern-day music industry.
The music industry is one of the most dynamic, exciting and innovative industry in the world. The creative industries overall account for almost 12% of all UK businesses, and is the fastest-growing sector of the UK economy.
You don’t just need to have left school to become an apprentice, we have apprenticeship offers for all ages and are a great way for adults to retrain for a new career. Whatever destination you’ve set your sights on, an apprenticeship will help you get there.

As an adult, we understand you may feel uneasy about returning to education, but there is no need to be. We have smaller class sizes and supportive tutors to make you feel very welcome.
