The fashion and textile industry is one of the biggest growing sectors within the UK, supporting 900,000 jobs and contributing £32 billion to the British economy. UK Fashion is at the forefront of the global stage and is one of the most influential fashion hubs worldwide.
The energy of the UK fashion industry goes from strength to strength with the UK being a design capital of the world. Last year the fashion industry contributed £32.3 billion to UK GDP. The growth is higher than the figure for the UK economy. Fashion remains a major UK employer with 890,000 jobs supported across the industry, making it almost as big as the financial sector.

Testimonials
“I thoroughly enjoyed the fashion & textiles course as it covers various practical and theoretical aspects. I’m now in my 2nd year of a degree course studying Costume for Film, TV and Theatre and have recently made costumes for the BBC."

Key information
The Fashion & Textiles course allows students to explore a wide range of disciplines that are used currently within the industry. For example, pattern cutting, garment design and production, textile creation and surface design and fashion styling and promotion.
In our dedicated design atelier, you will see your work come to life from conception to catwalk ready. Working alongside other creatives within the creative hub here at Lichfield, you will create a well-rounded portfolio that is industry ready, featuring technical drawings, designs, swatches, fabric samples, finished garments, styled photo-shoots and catwalk shots.
There will be further opportunities to design for outside agencies, allowing your work to be seen on stage and screen.
