Travel and Tourism

Travel and tourism is the fastest-growing sector in the UK and contributes 10% of the UK GDP. The industry provides 3.8 million jobs which is around 11% of the UK number. In 2019 visitors to the UK spent £28.4 billion, and in 2018 the UK ranked eighth in the UNWTO international tourist arrivals league.

The travel industry is one of the most important contributors to the UK economy and an exciting industry to work in. The industry supports diverse and exciting opportunities for employment such as; cabin crew, travel agents and resort representatives.

You will be taught and assessed by many different methods I.e role play, group work, presentation, blogs, video and some assignment work. You will be involved in a variety of trips that are relevant to the course ie, international visits, high profile hotel chains and airline companies.

Trips to the capital London and local regional tourist attractions. This will allow you to experience the world of travel and tourism first hand.

Key information

The course develops individuals, their confidence, communication, academic and customer service-based skills that will support them in their application to university or employment within the industry.

Alongside the main study programme, you will get the opportunity to complete additional employable qualifications such as Cabin Crew and Aviation Operations.

You will be required to purchase a uniform, details of which will be provided at enrolment.

Furthermore, we will invite you into taster sessions prior to course starting to allow you to experience what college will be like and to meet and greet your new class mates and teachers.
