South Staffordshire College apprentice named as a finalist at prestigious regional awards

South Staffordshire College is proud to announce that Abigail Barton has been named a finalist in the Advanced Apprentice of the Year category at the Black Country Apprenticeship Awards 2025.
Abigail, who is currently studying a Level 3 Veterinary Nursing apprenticeship with South Staffordshire College and Cavan Vets has impressed judges with her dedication, professionalism, and outstanding contributions both in the workplace and in her studies. Abigail’s nomination recognises not only her technical skills and growth but also her commitment to going above and beyond in her role.

The Black Country Apprenticeship Awards is organised by the Express & Star in partnership with the Ladder Foundation and celebrates the achievements of apprentices across the region. This year’s awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 20th November at the Copthorne Hotel Merry Hill-Dudley, bringing together finalists from across the region for an evening of celebration and recognition.
Abigail’s success reflects the college’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality apprenticeship programmes that empower learners and support local employers. Her journey is a shining example of how an apprenticeship can transform lives and careers.
