Construction Worker
  • Is this course for you?

Do you want to work on a building site? Do you need a CSCS card? If so this course gives you the opportunity to achieve a H&S qualification and attempt the CSCS operatives test.

CSCS cards provide proof that individuals working on construction sites have the appropriate training and qualifications for the job they do onsite. By ensuring the workforce are appropriately qualified the card plays its part in improving standards and safety on UK construction sites.

Holding a CSCS card is not a legislative requirement. It is entirely up to the principal contractor or client whether workers are required to hold a card before they are allowed on site. However, most principal contractors and major house builders require construction workers on their sites to hold a valid card.

  • Required qualifications

No specific qualifications required. Experience of working on a construction site and a general knowledge of Health and safety is helpful, but not essential.

  • What skills will I develop?

You will complete a Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment and be given the revision tools to attempt the Health Safety and Environment test.

The course is split into 2 days:

Day 1: includes the completion of the Level 1 award and revision tools in order for candidates to attempt the Health and Safety Environment Test.

Day 2: includes further revision and the Health and Safety Environment Test.

Successful completion of this will enable you to apply for a CSCS Card.

  • Careers

Most construction sites require all workers to have a CSCS card. Once employed construction workers could consider learning specific trades such as bricklaying, site carpentry, plumbing, electrical and many other trades.
