  • Is this course for you?

This course is for those who would like to develop their skills in oils and acrylics in a friendly sociable class exploring colour tone, texture and picture composition.

  • Required qualifications

No qualifications or experienced needed but more experienced learners will have the opportunity to develop their skills further.

  • What skills will I develop?

All learners will be given guidance on different painting methods and techniques in oil and acrylic painting. Whilst learners may wish to work on a project of their own choosing, an optional structured programme will be offered. This will consist of projects lasting from two to five weeks in each term. Subjects will range from landscape to still-life.

  • Careers

On completion of the course learners may either consolidate their skills by progressing, diversify onto related art subjects like the general drawing and painting classes or progress onto a higher-level course and onto gaining qualifications in art and design.

  • English and maths

Although the course is about visual communication, learners will learn key terms, encouraged to use appropriate vocabulary and to discuss their work and that of others. Learners will also learn about measuring, proportioning and perspective.

  • Other important information

Learners will need to provide their own art materials. A basic list would include the following:

    • Acrylic Paints – white, black and a range of colours
    • Cartridge Paper
    • Water pots
    • Paper A4/A5

You will purchase other materials though out the course when required. Learners need to bring with them images of buildings, the city, the high street etc.

    The ten-week course costs £100.

The course is an adult learning course for learners aged over 19.
