    Developing effective emotional agility in leadership

    This masterclass is designed to introduce aspiring and current leaders to the 5 elements of emotional intelligence as a tool for their reflections upon their emotional agility. Aspiring and current leaders will consider how self-aware they are and how they might consider this in terms of self-regulation to improve motivation, social skills and empathy towards those they may lead. This masterclass aims to support aspiring and current leaders in beginning to reflect on a more transformational style of leadership for a sustainable future.

    Aspiring leaders, new managers, and experienced leaders looking to refresh and realign their leadership approach.

  • Learning outcomes

    By the end of this masterclass, participants will be able to:

    • Demonstrate a clear understanding of human emotional intelligence (EI)
    • Evaluate own emotional intelligence (EI) and self-awareness
    • Reflect upon personal empathy, self-regulation, creative and positive thinking when leading others
    • Develop a targeted understanding in acknowledging true views, abilities, needs, values and feelings of others in leadership
    • Develop a targeted understanding of managing self in moment when leading others
  • Content areas

    • Introduction to emotional intelligence (EI) and how this differs from Intelligence Quotient (IQ)
    • Self-assessment of own emotional intelligence for reflection
    • Identifying theoretical aspects of emotional intelligence key to leadership (e.g. Transformational styles, Goleman; Personal Mastery, Senge; Lateral thinking, De Bono)
    • Setting personal leadership targets for managing emotions of self and awareness of emotions of others (e.g. Johari Window, positive thinking)
  • Delivery format

    Interactive workshop, including individual reflection, peer discussion, case study analysis, and self-assessment action planning.

  • Assessment

    Completion of personal self-assessment and case study development plan to enhance key areas of EI when leading others.
