    Something new: Leading cultural change; getting out of the box

    This masterclass is designed to consider cultural change within the workplace. This Masterclass is designed to support aspiring and current leaders in reflecting upon what change looks like and how individuals personally relate to change. Aspiring and current leaders will examine the impact of change upon others within the workplace. They will consider theories of change and the impact upon individuals, teams and organisations. They will analyse resistant behaviours towards change and the importance of effective communication through and beyond transitions.

  • Target audience

    Aspiring leaders, new managers, and experienced leaders looking to refresh and realign their leadership approach. Team members who have a forward-facing role within the workplace.

  • Learning outcomes

    By the end of this masterclass, participants will be able to:

    • Demonstrate a clear understanding of change and what this means for the workplace.
    • Evaluate the impact of change on individuals, teams, organisations and other stakeholders.
    • Reflect upon personal experiences of change as an emotive topic.
    • Develop a targeted understanding of why change is necessary within organisations and why change may be opposed.
    • Develop knowledge and understanding of theoretical strategies for leading relevant stakeholders through the change process (e.g. Lewin; Goldsmith; Kotter; De Bono)
  • Content areas

    • Introduction to definitions of change as a verb and noun.
    • Evaluate and analyse reflections of change and the change process.
    • Identifying theoretical aspects of change/inclusive/cultural change management (e.g. Lewin; Goldsmith; Kotter; De Bono; Hiatt).
    • Setting personal leadership targets for managing a change.
  • Delivery format

    Interactive workshop, including individual reflection, peer discussion, case study analysis, self-assessment action planning, videos, TED talks.

  • Assessment

    Completion of small action research project for chosen change in the workplace.
