  • Is this course for you?

    If you are looking to start a Horticulture apprenticeship soon or are just looking to upskill your knowledge with your current employer, this could be just the course for you.

    The ‘bootcamp’ course is run for 4 days a week over a consecutive 2-week period, and there is a great mix of theory and practical all delivered in the wonderful surroundings of the formal gardens and glass houses at Rodbaston College.

  • Required qualifications

    No formal qualifications are required to start this short bootcamp course but enthusiasm for the topic area would be an advantage.

  • What skills will I develop?

    Introduction to the following topics and skills:

    • Plant science and health
    • Planting techniques
    • Plant identification
    • Border maintenance
    • Turf maintenance
    • Basic first aid
    • Soft landscaping
    • Cultivation
    • Propagation
    • Pruning
    • Machinery
  • Careers

    Moving into a possible apprenticeship in Horticulture or continuing with employment if upskilling.

  • Other important information

    Steel toe cap work boots will be required for health and safety reasons as well as overalls or rough work clothes as a large element of this course is outside.
