South Staffordshire College signs Association of Colleges Mental Health Charter 

South Staffordshire College has proudly signed the Association of Colleges (AoC) Mental Health Charter, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing commitment to fostering a mentally healthy, inclusive, and supportive environment for both students and staff.

The AoC Mental Health Charter provides a nationally recognised framework for colleges to embed a whole-college approach to mental health and wellbeing. By signing the Charter, SSC joins a growing number of forward-thinking institutions across the UK that are prioritising mental health through authentic leadership, inclusive culture, and evidence-based practice.

SSC’s decision to adopt the Charter aligns with its broader strategic priorities around student engagement, local impact, and inclusive recruitment. This move comes at a time when mental health challenges among young people and educators are rising nationally.

The AoC’s latest research shows that over 80% of colleges are seeing increased mental health needs among students, often without formal disclosure.
