Empowering local entrepreneurs – fully funded business start-up support

April 2024

In a dedicated effort to uplift local entrepreneurial spirit, South Staffordshire College is proud to announce its partnership with ‘Good 2 Great’ to host a free two-day workshop for aspiring business owners in the South Staffordshire area. This startup workshop is generously funded by the South Staffordshire District Council and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and will take place at Rodbaston Hall, within the Rodbaston College estate in Penkridge on 16th and 17th April 2024.

The workshop is tailored to support individuals who are in the early stages of their entrepreneurial startup journey or those within the first two years of owning a business. Participants will have the opportunity to gain invaluable insights, knowledge, and practical skills essential for establishing and growing a business successfully.

Karen Turley, Assistant Principal Curriculum & Quality at South Staffordshire College said, “We’re excited to partner with ‘Good 2 Great’ to bring this fantastic opportunity to our local community! Small businesses are the heartbeat of our economy, and we’re passionate about helping them grow and succeed. This workshop perfectly aligns with our goal of nurturing entrepreneurship and driving economic development in South Staffordshire.”

The workshop covers a wide range of topics crucial for startup success, including business planning, marketing strategies, financial management, and customer acquisition. Attendees will also benefit from expert-led discussions, and networking opportunities with fellow entrepreneurs and industry professionals. Once completed, people can access up to three one-to-one support sessions with our experienced business advisors, all of whom have a range of expertise and experience.

Participation is exclusively open to individuals with a South Staffordshire postcode. This approach aims to directly support the local community and empower residents to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations effectively. Eligible businesses in South Staffordshire may also be able to access grant funding of up to £1,000 to support with start-up costs.

“Eddie Allan, Business Coach and trainer from Good2Great Ltd added, “Good2Great passionately believe that thriving businesses make thriving communities and the Start in South Staffs programme is the first step to making this happen.”
