With skills shortages continuing to challenge the engineering sector, South Staffordshire College is inviting employers to a free webinar to explore practical ways to build a skilled workforce for the future.

The Engineering Apprenticeships and Work Experience Webinar, taking place online on Friday 27th November from 1pm to 2pm, will look at how businesses can attract new talent, create opportunities for young people to experience the industry and develop the skills of their existing workforce.

If your business is facing skills challenges or thinking about how to develop its future workforce, book your free place on the webinar to find out how South Staffordshire College can support you.

With 58% of engineering employers reporting skills shortages, alongside an ageing workforce across the sector, developing a strong pipeline of skilled people is becoming increasingly important for businesses.

South Staffordshire College works with employers to help meet their skills needs through apprenticeships, work experience and training opportunities.

The webinar will help employers explore how they can:

  • build a sustainable pipeline of future engineering talent
  • use apprenticeships to recruit and develop employees
  • offer work experience that introduces young people to careers in engineering
  • address skills gaps and develop their existing workforce
  • access training and support through South Staffordshire College

Whether your business is considering recruiting its first apprentice, looking to offer work experience placements or wants to develop the skills of its existing workforce, the webinar will provide practical information about the options available.

Tracy Kerr, Business Development Advisor, at South Staffordshire College said, “Engineering businesses need skilled people now, but they also need to think about where their workforce will come from in five or ten years’ time. Building that pipeline doesn’t start when a vacancy becomes difficult to fill. It starts much earlier. We want this session to give employers practical information about the options available and show how we can work alongside them to develop the skills their businesses need.”
