South Staffordshire College student crowned National Champion at UK dance competition

South Staffordshire College student Kayla Adams-Kolmer is celebrating after being crowned a National Champion at a UK dance competition in Blackpool.

Kayla, who studies Year 10 Elective Home Education (EHE) Creative Media at Cannock College, represented Hednesford-based Crystal Academy Aerial Arts and Dance CIC at the Follow Your Dreams UK Nationals.

The competition was held at The Grand Hotel in Blackpool from 22nd to 25th October and brought together dancers who had qualified to compete at national level.

Kayla became National Champion in the Duo category alongside her dance partner, Ava. She also achieved second place in Jazz and third place in Ballet.

Speaking about Kayla’s achievement, Head of 14-16 Provision Karen Burley said: “We are incredibly proud of Kayla and her fantastic results. We’d like to send our warmest congratulations to Kayla and everyone at Crystal Academy on such a brilliant achievement.”

Jason Kolmer, co-founder and director of Crystal Academy, said: “This was Crystal Academy’s first time competing at the UK’s biggest Nationals circuit. We might be a small dance school, with small numbers, but we came home with some huge victories!”

Congratulations to Kayla and her dance partner on a brilliant achievement.
