John has worked in and around Further Education for the last 45 years.
Now retired, John started his career lecturing in Staffordshire before moving to Runshaw College in Lancashire initially as a lecturer in Economics and Business Studies. During his time at Runshaw College John always retained some teaching responsibilities mainly with 16-19 students but also taught in HE in partnership with the University of Central Lancashire. Whilst at Runshaw John undertook several management roles, eventually becoming Head of School for Business Studies.
John joined KPMG as an education/management advisor in 1999. During the next 18 years he also worked for Deloitte and RSM Tenon before returning for a second spell at KPMG as a Senior Manager before leaving in 2017 and setting up his own educational advisory business which he ran for 7 years.
During his time as an advisor John worked with many FE colleges advising on funding, curriculum and additional learning support alongside project managing numerous college mergers. He also worked with DfE, ESFA, LSC, SFA and FEFC on a range of different education initiatives including Skills for Life. John worked alongside AOC delivering seminars on additional learning support.
John has lived in the Staffordshire Moorlands for the last 30 years.
John is fiercely passionate about Further Education and maximising its impact for all students and is looking forward to applying his expertise to support the students and wider community at South Staffordshire College.
