Chief Executive and Principal
Claire’s career in Further Education began in 1987 and for most of that time has worked at South Staffordshire College. Claire commenced teacher training in 1987 at Tamworth where she was then employed as a part-time lecturer for many years. In 1990, Claire secured a full-time role and went on to progress her career at the College until 2013, until she was appointed to the role of Deputy Principal and then Chief Executive & Principal at City of Wolverhampton College. Claire returned to South Staffordshire College as Chief Executive & Principal on 1 March 2018.
As part of Claire’s Chief Executive and Principal role, she is responsible to the members of the Corporation for the strategic direction and management of all aspects of the College’s business and to implement the mission and strategic vision. Claire is currently leading the College on a significant ‘journey’ in order to improve significantly on all levels. Claire advises the Board of Governors and submits proposals regarding the strategic direction of the College, ensuring all decisions made by the Board are implemented. Claire leads and co-ordinates the work of the Executive Leadership Team and ensures that the day to day operation of the College is well led, motivating and promotes the development of a whole team approach as well as being well planned and effective.
Claire is passionate about improving the chances of young people and adults and supporting them to achieve their next step in life, whether that is further education, higher education, an apprenticeship or employment.
