    This Skills Bootcamp is designed for experienced or aspiring electrical installers who want to gain essential qualifications and knowledge to work safely and confidently within the electrical industry.

    The programme is ideal for individuals with prior electrical experience who are looking to update their skills, gain the latest regulatory knowledge, or broaden their expertise into emerging technologies such as solar photovoltaic systems and electric vehicle charging installations.

    Delivered over approximately 60 guided learning hours across several weeks, the bootcamp allows learners to upskill while minimising the impact on work commitments. Training is practical, industry‑focused, and aligned to current regulations and employer expectations.

  • Required qualifications

    Learners should have prior experience or training in electrical installation. This may include an existing electrical qualification, relevant industry experience, or recent employment within the electrical sector.

    This course is not suitable for complete beginners with no electrical background, as it builds on existing technical knowledge and practical skills.

  • What skills will I develop?

    During this bootcamp, learners will complete the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification (BS 7671), ensuring they are up to date with current electrical safety standards and regulatory requirements.

    The programme also includes BPEC Solar PV Installation training, providing learners with the core principles, system components, and installation considerations required when working with solar photovoltaic technologies.

    In addition, learners will complete an overview of Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Installations, developing awareness of charging types, basic installation requirements, safety considerations, and current industry standards.

    Where elements have been completed previously, appropriate refresher training or recertification will be provided to ensure knowledge and certification remain current and compliant.

  • Careers

    On completion of this bootcamp, learners will be better prepared to progress within the electrical installation sector.

    The qualification and training gained support employability, role progression, and the ability to work in line with current electrical regulations, as well as supporting progression into renewable energy and electric vehicle infrastructure work.

  • Work experience

    This programme is designed for learners who already have experience within the electrical sector. It builds on existing technical knowledge and applies learning to real‑world electrical installation and compliance scenarios.

    Learners are encouraged to relate their training to their current role or workplace wherever possible to reinforce learning and support progression.

  • English and maths

    There are no formal English or maths entry requirements for this course. However, learners should be confident with basic numeracy and written communication to support measurements, calculations, technical documentation, and regulatory compliance.

  • Other important information

    This course is delivered as part of the Staffordshire and Stoke‑on‑Trent Skills Bootcamps programme.

    Learners must be aged 19 or over and live or work within Staffordshire or the West Midlands. Access to funding is subject to eligibility checks.

    In many cases, the course may be fully funded for eligible learners. Where an employer supports an existing employee to undertake the training, an employer contribution towards training costs may be required, depending on organisation size.
