  • Is this course for you?

    Preparing and using CNC machinery prepares you for working in a multitude of engineering environments, from car plants to fridge manufacturers, from egg producers to aerospace.

    You will have the opportunity to work with multi-million-pound engineering equipment to develop your engineering skills. You will then have the opportunity to join either the full-time course or apply for operator positions within the community.

    You will also develop your interview skills and ability to apply for a career in this exciting industry.

    Available at our Cannock College on a Tuesday evening.

    Cost: £1,250

  • Required qualifications

    You don’t need any qualifications, just the ‘hunger’ to get a job and the ‘want’ to learn a new skill.

  • What skills will I develop?

    • Understand CNC machines – What are they and what aren’t they?
    • Learn Basic G-Code – The language of the machines.
    • This course will use CNC simulators so you can see what the code you create actually does.
    • The course will provide you with the materials necessary to turn drawings into the code required to make it a physical part.
  • Careers

    Once you have completed this course you could join our full-time provision, gain an apprenticeship or go straight into employment. The STEP UP programme helps you to make the right choice for your future.

  • English and maths

    Whilst at South Staffordshire College, you will be given the opportunity to improve your maths and English skills by continuing to study at GCSE or Functional Skill level. We have a great team working alongside your main course tutors with the skills and knowledge to improve your maths and English skills.

  • Other important information

    You are required to purchase safety boots, work gear and details of these will be discussed at interview. All other equipment such as power tools, safety aids and PPE are supplied by the college as required.

    Additional home study will be required as part of this course.
