  • Is this course for you?

    Are you 19+ and interested in learning a bit more about counselling skills? Whether it be to extend your knowledge for your and/or your families/friends wellbeing or looking for a career in counselling and would like to know a little more about it? Then this Introduction to Counselling course is ideal.

  • Required qualifications

    No formal qualifications are required just an interest in finding out more about the role of a counsellor.

  • What skills will I develop?

    Topics covered will be;

    • What is counselling?
    • Understanding the core counselling skills; using core skills effectively in helping relationships
    • Cover counselling theory and other types of therapy.
    • Supporting effective use of core counselling skills for everyday activities; including listening skills.
  • Careers

    After this short taster course you will have the opportunity to progress onto a Level 1 or Level 2 Counselling Skills course.

  • English and maths

    Basic English and maths will be embedded in the course.

  • Other important information

    • *FREE to claimants of Universal Credit, ESA, JSA and low income (less than £18,525) – evidence required.
    • You will need a notebook and a pen.
    • The course is for adults aged 19+.
