  • Is this course for you?

This one-day course is aimed at those with little knowledge or skills in dog grooming who want to be able to pamper their four-legged friend, or enthusiastic amateurs looking to improve their skills.

In a small group size, you will spend time learning from a member of our Rodbaston Dog Grooming Academy in our specialist salon.

  • Required qualifications

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

You just need to be an adult aged 19+ and own your own dog.

  • What skills will I develop?

During the day, you will learn the basics of healthcare checks, bathing and drying dogs, and trimming.

  • Careers

This introductory course could be a steppingstone to a career in dog grooming and upon completing one of our one-day courses, you may wish to apply for our part-time Level 2 Dog Grooming course that starts each September in order to gain a recognised qualification.

  • Work experience

Work experience is not required as part of this short course.

  • English and maths

English and maths are not required as part of this short course.

If you would like to gain a recognised qualification in English, maths, or both, you can explore the range of GCSE and Functional Skills courses we offer for adults here.

  • Other important information

You will need to bring your own dog with you for the day to brush, bath, dry, and pamper, but no grooming equipment is required as all tools and resources will be provided for you.

You will receive a college certificate of completion at the end of the day.
