    This qualification is designed to increase learners’ awareness and understanding of domestic abuse and its impact. The need for education and training across sectors to enable identification of abuse, allocation of support and referral is a recurring theme within regional domestic abuse strategies.

    Awareness of domestic abuse and its impact is important for those working in a wide range of sectors such as healthcare, social care, childcare, education, and housing. There is a need to understand the issues, report on those who may be at risk and support signposting to relevant services. Introducing the new Domestic Abuse Act 2021 and how multi-agency teams must support victims and others, in all manner of service

  • Required qualifications

    There are no formal entry requirements, however, a good level of literacy is required in order to complete these qualifications – reading, writing and comprehension, as these are knowledge-based qualifications. You need to be able to understand what you have read within the learning materials and answer the assessment questions in your own words and in full sentences.

  • What skills will I develop?

    This qualification consists of 4 units:

    • Understand domestic abuse
    • Understand the signs and risk factors associated with domestic abuse
    • Understand the impact of domestic abuse
    • Understand policy, response, and intervention in relation to domestic abuse
  • Careers

    Study will enhance both your personal skills and professional development.

    You could progress to another distance learning course:

    • Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills
    • Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care
    • Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Safeguarding and Prevent
  • English and maths

    You should have a good level of English to complete the course. However, English and maths is not formally assessed as part of your course.
