  • Is this course for you?

    This course is a good introduction into what is involved in providing information, advice, or guidance in a variety of situations. It covers a range of topics from confidentiality to making accurate client records.

    You will learn about effective signposting, referral procedures, meeting the needs of clients, boundaries of the IAG role, complying with legislation, barriers that clients may face, challenging stereotyping, selecting appropriate resources for clients and more.

    By completing this qualification, you will have a knowledge foundation to be able to put these skills in practice and understand how to support individual client.

    If you choose to complete the course online, you will need a computer or a laptop with access to the internet. If not, you will just need writing materials for the postal work booklet.

  • Required qualifications

    No formal qualifications are required to start this course, but you do need a good level of English.

  • What skills will I develop?

    You will explore communication techniques, how values, attitudes and beliefs can affect your interactions with people. Develop interaction and interpersonal skills learning how group interaction can be utilised. You will explore how information advice or guidance can be used in a number of situations. Learning how to manage information, including and storage and retrieval.

    And final how all this fits into legislation such as The General Data Protection Regulations, 2016 and The Equality Act 2010 Learn how to comply with the law.

    Career wise it can lead to a number of job opportunities which include careers advisor, customer service advisor, HR support.

    Next steps for learning include Counselling L2, Customer Service L2, IAG L3

    Your work will be assessed for appropriate English and maths; corrections will be identified, and any development points will be highlighted to you.
