    Expand your practical beauty skills, build your beauty career prospects, and achieve an internationally recognised qualification on the Beauty Therapy Level 3 course.

    Our practical course will equip you with the skills you need to thrive in the glamorous beauty therapy industry. Training takes place in a practical working environment in our training/commercial salons.

    Our level 3 will advance your skills and knowledge and allow you to work at a higher level with increased opportunities for promotion within the industry. You will be able to work anywhere in the world such as on cruise ships, luxury spas and resorts.

    Students will be required to purchase a uniform and a kit prices are available from the Learner Services Team on request. In addition, there may be extra-curricular trips which have additional costs. Prices and details will be discussed at interview. Bursary funds may be available to help with additional costs. As with all FE college courses, you will also be expected to provide your own stationery and always attend college fully equipped for lessons with a folder, note paper and writing implements.

  • Required qualifications

    You will need a relevant Level 2 qualification, ideally, in beauty therapy, media/theatrical make-up or specialist make-up to apply for the level 3 beauty therapy, and English and/or maths at grade 4 (grade C) or above.

    You should be committed, enthusiastic and have a desire to succeed in the beauty industry

  • What skills will I develop?

    This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a beauty therapist including; body massage, client care, health and safety, stone therapy, face and body electrotherapy.

    Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, client care and beauty therapy products and equipment. You will also develop a range of technical skills enabling you to prepare the skin and apply a variety of beauty therapy products and electrical equipment using different techniques. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.

    Assessments are progressive and unit based involving both practical and written assessments with credit being given for skills as they are practiced within our onsite salons. The qualification that is achieved on this course is a level 3 beauty therapy diploma which is validated by the awarding body VTCT (Vocational Training Charitable Trust).

    Once you’ve achieved your level 3 in beauty therapy, you can go on to gain your Level 4 Diploma in Spa and Salon management. The course is the next progression step that will allow you to gain practical and theoretical skills that are needed to manage the spa or salon in which you work in. There are currently 32% more jobs within Salon management in the West midlands when compared nationally and with a predicted growth of 4.5% over the next 3 years, there couldn’t be a better time to start to pursue a career within the Beauty Industry.

    Work experience is designed to bridge the gap between education and the world of work. It can help inform career choices, provide the opportunity for young people to prove themselves to an employer, and help instil the attitudes and behaviours expected at work.

    Work placements will form an essential part of your individual study programme and all students will be expected to complete an appropriate work placement related to their full-time course.

  • English and maths

    If you do not have a grade 4 (grade C) or above in English and maths and you are under 19, you will be required to complete an assessment so we can ensure you receive appropriate support.

    Applicants over 19 are not required to complete maths and English, although are provided with the opportunity to do so.

    English and maths are integral to gaining employment and are included on every study programme to support your development and progression in these important skills. Within L3 Beauty development of such skills will be embedded into the programme and will support with several key industry needs, such as; costs of treatments, effective communication with clients, timings for treatments and the taking bookings.
