  • Is this course for you?

    This award is for those who assess in the workshop or classroom-based environments using assessment methods such as simulations, skills tests, oral and written questions, assignments projects, case studies and recognising prior learning.

  • Required qualifications

    You should be occupationally competent and experienced in the subject area you wish to assess. You must have access to a minimum of 2 candidates who you can undertake the assessment process with

  • What skills will I develop?

    The course is mainly delivered on an individual basis meaning that you will have 1:1 meetings with your tutor at the college to support development of the underpinning knowledge for the qualification and also to develop and assess practical skills required to be an assessor.

    You will cover the following whilst on the course:

    • Key roles and responsibilities of an assessor
    • How to plan assessment using a range of assessment methods
    • Making assessment judgements and providing feedback
    • Keeping assessment records
    • Working effectively with relevant others assessment process
  • Careers

    The course is designed to provide you with the recognised qualifications to assess either in the work environment or a training environment. Career opportunities include:

    • Work based assessors
    • NVQ assessors
    • Instructor/Assessors

    Following completion of this qualification you could progress to the internal quality assurance (IQA) qualifications or the Level 3 Award in Education and Training – and into IQA or teaching/training roles.

  • Work experience

    As part of the course you will need to be undertaking the assessor role with 2 candidates either in the workplace or a training environment/classroom.
