  • Is this course for you?

All learners will have been referred to the class and will have physical or mental health issues. They may have attended an Art for Life class previously. The overriding purpose of the class therefore is to promote the well-being of the learner through art, in a safe, friendly, and creative environment. All teaching will be 1-1 with each learner working on and developing their own area of interest and creative practice. The course is for learners with no or little experience in art or who want to develop their existing skills in art by exploring a wider range of media, techniques, and subject matter than previously explored. Where required activities can be set for individual learners.

  • Required qualifications

No qualifications or experienced needed but more experienced learners will have the opportunity to develop their skills further.

  • What skills will I develop?

By the end of the course learners will be more able to communicate their ideas visually by improved skills in manipulating art material of their choice; to have a better understanding of colour, line, tone and texture; to be able to create images as intended; and to be more expressive in their art with or without traditional craft skills.

  • Careers

On completion of the course learners may either consolidate their existing skills, or to diversify their practise into other areas such as pottery and printmaking. Learning may consider joining specialist recreational classes such as pottery.

  • English and maths
