The Prince’s Trust Achieve programme students at South Staffordshire College organised and participated in a 13-mile walk to raise money for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, as part of their Community Project assignment. To achieve this, the learners walked 36 laps of the field at Tamworth College, over the course of a few weeks. A JustGiving page was set up to aid monetary collections and to enable learners to raise awareness.

The students were tasked with selecting a possible community project and presenting their idea to the class, whilst working in small groups. The class voted and the Birmingham Children’s Hospital 13-mile walk won the class vote.

Anthea Small, their tutor said: “These students exceeded our expectations and showed the same level of enthusiasm on rainy days as they did when the sun was shining. I’d also like to mention the students who took part in the Prince’s Trust programme who ran the Food Bank donations. I am so proud of what our students have achieved”.

Well done to all of the students involved in the project; Ryan, Olivia, Joey, Alice, Chelsea, Chelsie, Nathan and Raquel. The students ended up raising a total sum of £515 and were presented with a big cheque by the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
