July 2025
On Thursday 26th June, Lichfield Cathedral hosted a day of celebrations as South Staffordshire College recognised the outstanding achievements of its students.
Held across two sessions, the event rewarded learners who have excelled academically or shown exceptional progress in their skills development.
Course tutors selected winners for two key awards which were Student of the Year Award which reflected academic excellence, and Skills Development Award for significant improvement in skills, whether in lessons, competitions, or specific areas of study
The morning session students from Art and Design, Media, Sport, Travel and Tourism, Performing Arts, Hair and Beauty, Catering, Business, Health and Social Care, and SEND provision picked up their awards.
In the afternoon, award winners from Animal and Land-Based Studies, Construction, Engineering, Motor Vehicle, Plumbing, Teacher Education, Access to HE, and Public Services were invited to receive their awards.
A standout moment in both sessions was a heartfelt performance by Lichfield College music student Josh Simpson, who played the guitar and impressed with his vocals.
Claire Boliver, Chief Executive Principal at South Staffordshire College said “I’d like to thank our staff for their unwavering support and belief in our students. Your dedication has been crucial to their success and has helped nurture another generation of learners. For this, I am deeply grateful.”
