Fantastic results day success at South Staffordshire College

Students happy with their GCSE / level 2 results

South Staffordshire College is thrilled to announce another year of fantastic GCSE and level 2 technical qualification results.

Pass rates in both GCSE English and maths have increased by 4% over the last academic year when compared to 2022/2023 demonstrating the outstanding teaching at South Staffordshire College, and the commitment, hard work and dedication our students have made to their learning.

Achieving an English and / or maths qualifications makes a real difference to our student’s lives, by opening the door to employment opportunities or progression onto higher level courses which allows higher earning potential.

We heard from lots of students today who were thrilled with their exam results, here is what they had to say:

Georgia Smith who achieved a grade 5 in GCSE maths today said “As an adult learner I came back to college in the hope of improving the future for myself and my children. I am overjoyed that even though I didn’t succeed in my teen years, and even last year, that with the support of my tutor and determination that I did better than I had expected to do for my GCSE maths. I’m so happy to have finally obtained the grade I had hoped for”.

Louisa Pearsall achieved a grade 4 in GCSE maths and said “I am so proud to have received a grade 4 in my maths GCSE today – thank you to the Rodbaston maths team! I have really enjoyed my time at Rodbaston College, and I am looking forward to seeing where next year at Rodbaston will take me”.

Jennifer McKinley also achieved a grade 4 in GCSE maths and said “I’ve loved my time back at college. I’m absolutely on cloud nine to have passed my maths. It’s not easy, especially as an adult, but some dedication and hard work does pay off. I’m looking forward now to the possibilities of the future and all the avenues that have now be opened up on more studies. Having the opportunity as an adult is both rewarding and challenging but well worth it”.

Honey Allida achieved a grade 4 in maths and said “As an adult learner, I’ve enjoyed my time studying GCSE maths. My tutor Lee and the college were always there to help in any way they could. I am now looking forward to starting my Access to HE in September to become a Pediatric Nurse someday”.

It isn’t just GCSE results day at South Staffordshire College, lots of students have also been receiving fantastic level 2 qualification results today.

Skye Dobric-Hales achieved a Distinction in Level 2 art and design, here is what she thought of her results “I went from hating my time at school to loving my time here at college. I am really pleased with my results, and I can’t wait to move onto level 3 photography courses in September”.

Ella-Mae Barnett also achieved a Distinction in Level 2 equine. She said “I’m over the moon to come out with a Distinction for Horse Care Diploma level 2, on to Level 3 next year”.

Kirk Hookham. Deputy Chief Executive of South Staffordshire College reflected on our students’ achievements today by saying, “Following last week’s incredible level 3 results, we have again seen excellent results in level 2 technical courses and GCSE English and maths. Our students have worked tirelessly and with outstanding teaching and support have achieved some truly fantastic results that they can carry with them to further studies or into work. We remain very proud of our students’ achievements.”
