    If you are looking to embark on a career as a therapist specialising in waxing treatments, our VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Certificate in Waxing is designed to equip you with the knowledge, practical skills and industry-required qualification to be able do this with confidence.

  • Required qualifications

    There are no pre-requirements to completing this qualification. It can be completed as a standalone qualification within waxing treatments or as the first step towards taking more advanced beauty or aesthetics training.

    You should have a strong interest in working in the beauty industry and demonstrate a commitment to succeed.

  • What skills will I develop?

    The main skills you will perform are:

    • Waxing – to include removal of hair using hot and cool wax methods The learner will also learn about related health and safety and client care and communication which is essential in order to work and be successful in the industry.

    This qualification also provides:

    • The related knowledge and understanding required to perform the waxing skills listed above effectively in particular the anatomy and physiology of the skin and hair and common diseases and disorders that may affect when a client should or should not receive treatment.
    • Opportunities for learners to focus on the development of their wider skills in a waxing setting, such as communicating with clients, working with others and problem solving.
    • Opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills, techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in employment as a waxing specialist.
  • Careers

    With advanced skills in waxing treatments making, you a valuable asset to any salon. You can also work as a Freelance Waxing Specialist providing treatments from home or mobile. The career opportunities are vast!

    Employment in the beauty industry is on the rise with currently nearly 4,000 people employed in the West Midlands and an expected growth of 2.6% within the next 3 years.

    Once completed this qualification you have several options to develop your skills further and enhance your career prospects. You could look to study one of the following:

    • Level 2 Certificate in Beauty Specialist Techniques
    • Level 2 Nail Technology
    • Level 2 Certificate in Manicure and Pedicure
    • Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Treatments Techniques
    • Level 2 Diploma for Beauty Specialists
  • English and maths

    English and maths are integral to gaining employment and are included on every study programme to support your development and progression in these important skills. Within this course such skills will be embedded into the programme and will support with several key industry needs, such as; costs of treatments, effective communication with clients, and the timings for treatments.

  • Other important information

    Students will be required to purchase a uniform and a kit prices are available from the Learner Services Team on request. In addition, there may be extra-curricular trips which have additional costs. Prices and details will be discussed at interview. Bursary funds may be available to help with additional costs. As with all FE college courses, you will also be expected to provide your own stationery and always attend college fully equipped for lessons with a folder, note paper and writing implements.
