    This course is designed for those involved in carpentry and wood occupations within the construction industry who are pursuing pursuing a trade card to continue to work on construction sites that require CSCS cards. This qualification is perfect for formally evidencing your skills. It assesses your ability to perform various tasks according to industry standards and is recognised by the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), allowing you to obtain the CSCS Blue Card with the CSCS HSE test also completed.

    This qualification validates your competency in wood occupations. You will learn to adhere to General Health, Safety, and Welfare regulations in the workplace, follow Productive Working Practices, and manage resources effectively.

  • Required qualifications

    There are no formal qualifications required; however, you will need to complete the CITB Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) test alongside this qualification as it is an essential requirement for obtaining a Blue construction industry scheme CSCS card. 

    You will need to have experience working within the construction industry and you must be currently employed in the industry and have access to a wide range of work to satisfy the criteria required to complete the NVQ.  

    You will have a discussion with an assessor prior to starting to ascertain if your current employment gives you the range of work available to successfully complete the NVQ. 

  • What skills will I develop?

    The qualification covers essential aspects of workplace safety, productive working practices, and the proper handling and storage of resources. It ensures that individuals are well-versed in maintaining health, safety, and welfare standards, adhering to efficient work practices, and managing resources effectively in a construction environment.

  • Careers

    Successful candidates could complete an NVQ Level 3 qualification or simply continue to work within the construction industry for larger contractors who require a CSCS card.

    This qualification is the main component to gaining a CSCS card, but not the only one.
