    Have you ever wanted to learn a new language? Have you tried online learning but it isn’t for you? If your answer is “yes” then why not try our French Conversation for Beginners course?

    This short course is aimed at learners with no prior/very little knowledge of French.

    There is a friendly classroom environment, where you will meet like-minded people.

    It is a quick, fun way to learn the basics of a new language, with the benefit of having an experienced tutor, who will give you instant feedback, guide you through the learning process and help you develop your skills and confidence.

    It is intended for those wishing to use the French language for holiday purposes and/or to communicate with French friends/family members.

    It provides a first step towards learning French and includes the four elements of language learning: listening, speaking, reading and writing, although the emphasis is on oral communication.

    Upon completion of the course, you will be able to progress to French Beginners 1 for more in-depth learning.

  • Required qualifications

    You should have:

    • An interest in France and its cultural aspects
    • A willingness to participate in class activities with peers and to complete simple homework tasks
    • Confidence to speak aloud in class in French
    • A willingness to embrace basic grammar aspects
    • A willingness to share ideas, information and personal experiences about France in class
  • What skills will I develop?

    • You will be able to communicate at a basic level in French within the everyday topic areas covered (e.g. greetings, ordering a drink, finding the way, booking a hotel) when going on holiday to France and/or interacting with French friends/family members
    • You will develop your skills in listening comprehension via CDs and video clips
    • You will develop your skills in pronunciation and speaking by taking part in simple role plays, small group activities and games
    • You will develop your skills in reading via simple class reading comprehension tasks
    • You will develop your skills in simple writing tasks
    • You will gain a knowledge of French cultural aspects
    • You will develop your knowledge of basic French grammar rules
    • You will also gain transferable skills e.g. working in a team, social and communication skills, an understanding of English grammar, respect for others and an overall increased confidence
