  • Is this course for you?

Our Foundation Degree in Games Art explores the visual elements within games and provide you the skills you need to be a 3D Artist.

You’ll develop your skills by using industry standard software and hardware such as Blender, 3ds Max, Unreal Engine and Adobe Substance Suite. Using professional techniques acquired through lectures, tutorials and group projects, you will develop your skills in both characters and environments whilst building your portfolio.

The Foundation Degree (subject to validation) with the University of Staffordshire is equivalent the first two years of university. The course is designed to progress and enhance the skills and techniques previously studied from a Level 3 games or games art course to prepare you for either further study at Level 6, or in readiness for employment.

When you have completed the FdA in Games Art, you will have the option of moving into employment or completing a top-up year to further specialise in your chosen field and gain a full bachelor’s degree, such as through the University of Staffordshire.

  • Required qualifications

We suggest that applicants have previously studied a Level 3 games course with target grades of Merit in a UAL course, or DMM in a BTEC course. If you have not achieved these grades your applications are still welcome but will be subject to a portfolio review, all applicants will require an interview. Applicants should also have GCSE English and maths at grade 9-4 (A*-C).

We welcome mature students without these qualifications but with relevant games art experience is recommended.
