    These qualifications are intended for individuals who want to learn, develop, and practice the skills necessary for employment and career advancement in the electrotechnology sector. They serve as a foundation for further qualifications that lead to becoming a fully qualified electrician, such as the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Technology (2357) or the Level 3 Electrotechnical Apprenticeship Qualification (5357-03).

    The Level 3 qualification is aimed at those who have already completed the Level 2 qualification.

  • Required qualifications

    Applicants should already hold the City and Guilds 2565 Electrical Installation Level 2. Other qualifications can be considered, such as the C&G2330 Level 2, please speak to a lecturer for more information or refer to the C&G website.

  • What skills will I develop?

    The City and Guilds 2365 Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations is a qualification designed for those aiming to advance their careers in the electrical industry. Building on foundation knowledge from the Level 2, this course covers advanced topics such as electrical science, environmental technology systems, and fault diagnosis. It combines theoretical learning with practical, hands-on training, ensuring that students are well-prepared for real-world electrical installation. Successful completion of this Level 3 can lead to further qualifications, such as the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Technology, and ultimately, to becoming a fully qualified electrician.

  • Careers

    Successful candidates could move to complete a NVQ Level 3 qualification and AM2 qualification to gain them an ECS card and registered electrician status with the JIB.

  • English and maths

    You will need a good level of English and maths to complete the qualification. You may have a short diagnostic prior to the start of the programme to establish your level if you do not hold a qualification.

  • Other important information

    This qualification is a component to becoming a fully qualified electrician but is not the only element. With this qualification, you will be at the Improver/Electrician’s Mate level. To become a fully qualified Electrician, you must meet the performance criteria outlined in the Electrotechnical Assessment Scheme.
