    If you currently work in the health and social care industry, are aged 19+ and want a recognised Level 3 qualification, then this is the course for you.

    Adult Care Workers are frontline staff who help adults with their care and support needs to live as independently and safely as possible, enabling them to have control and choice in their lives and achieve personal goals.

    The job roles that this course is suitable for might include: Care Officer, Care Supervisor, Senior Care Worker, Supervising Care Worker, Senior Support Worker, Relief Team Leader, Social Work Assistant, Social Services Officer, Outreach Development Worker, Community Support Worker, Community Outreach Worker, Community Development Worker, Family Support Worker or Personal Assistant. These roles could include a variety of specialisms such as learning disability, mental health, drug and alcohol misuse, homecare, dementia and end-of-life care.

    The course is free for those who:

    If you earn over the threshold, you are still able to do the course but would either have to pay for it yourself or get your employer to pay for it. You would be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to help cover the cost of the course.

  • Required qualifications

    No formal qualifications are needed.

    You will need to be employed in a care setting and have completed your induction training.

    You will need to have experience supporting less experienced members of staff to meet the standards, either as a senior, mentor or supervisor.

    A good understanding of basic maths and English and a commitment to completing the coursework set is essential.

    • Further Education: with the Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care, Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care or Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England)

  • Work experience

    Please note that this is a work-based learning course meaning that you already need to be employed in the health and social care industry to apply.

    No college attendance is necessary, and our workplace assessor will visit you at your workplace periodically.

  • English and maths

    English skills will be developed during the course as you will be researching units, completing work either handwritten or on Microsoft Word, completing discussions, completing reflective accounts and taking part in verbal questioning.

    Maths skills will be developed during the course as you may be completing food and fluid charts, mileage documents, shift rotas, medication administration or auditing, pressure sore risk assessments or financial transaction sheets.

    Support will be given if any areas for development are identified.

  • Other important information

    This is an accredited course with NCFE CACHE, and you will receive a full Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care.

    There are no exams with this course, you will be assessed through coursework.
