    If you’re looking for a career working as an accountant or a bookkeeper for an accounting practice or business organisation, this programme is designed to focus on every aspect of accuracy, efficiency and professional development.

    Which job roles is this Apprenticeship suitable for?

    Assistant Auditor, Assistant Management Accountant, Assistant Financial Accountant, Accounts Payable and Expenses Supervisor, Commercial Analyst, Payroll Manager, Senior Bookkeeper, Senior Financial Officer, Tax Investigations Officer, Personal Tax Assistant and Business Tax Assistant.

    Individual employers will identify entry requirements in terms of previous qualifications, training, or other criteria.

    Most candidates will have Level 2 Maths and English (equivalent to GCSE grade C or above), ideally as part of 5 GCSE A-C grades or other comparable qualifications. Apprentices without English or Maths at Level 2 must achieve this prior to the completion of the Apprenticeship.

    You will need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week in a relevant job but we can assist you in finding a placement.

    Duration 18 Months.

  • Course content

    The apprentice will study the core knowledge, skills and behaviours as laid out in the apprenticeship plan including the Technical Knowledge of Option 1 Accounting, Option 2 Tax, Business Awareness, Ethical Standards, Regulation and Compliance, and Systems and Processes.

    The apprentice will be able to acquire and demonstrate the skills including Analysis, Communication, Leadership, Planning and Prioritisation, Produce Quality and Accurate Information, Team Working and Collaboration, and use Systems and Processes through a process of continuous self-improvement.

    The following behaviours will be developed and exhibited, while adhering to high standards of professionalism and quality; Adaptability, Adding Value, Ethics and Integrity, Proactivity and Professional Scepticism.

    What Qualification will I gain?

    Professional Accounting and Taxation Technician Level 4 Apprenticeship, plus a professional qualification.

  • Course assessment

    Apprentices are required to attend college once a week, the rest of the training will take place in the workplace with in-house training by the employer. Our Accountancy assessor will visit and observe the apprentice in practice.

    • Knowledge – Your apprentice will attend college based classes and be able to access the college’s online learning environment where specially prepared learning materials are available 24/7.
    • Skills and Behaviours – This training will be led by yourselves in the workplace. Our Assessors will visit your workplace to observer the apprentice undertaking their normal on-the-job duties, and complete reviews to make sure the apprentice is staying on track with their work. In conjunction with you and your apprentice, the Assessor will develop an action plan to show what knowledge units are being studied, what evidence needs to be prepared, as well as the time and date of the Assessors visits.
    • Functional Skills – Individuals without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end-point assessment.

    End Point Assessment

    A portfolio covering evidence produced in the workplace to show that you have met the required knowledge, skills and behaviours – partnered with a Reflective Statement that offers insights into your experience for independent assessors.

    A Role Simulation giving you the opportunity to tackle a series of business-related tasks that reflect activities undertaken in a typical role.

    Fees

    If you have less than 50 staff and the apprentice is between 16-18 then the apprenticeship will be fully funded, you will only need to pay for the apprentice’s wages. If you choose to recruit an apprentice who is 19 or above, you will be required to pay 5% of the cost of the apprenticeship (the government will fund 95%).

    If you are a large employer with 50+ staff, you will be required to fund 5% of the apprenticeship costs regardless of the age of the learner.
