We caught up with Adam Stamps to discuss his roles of Student Governor and Course Representative.

Adam Stamps - Student Governor

About The Role:

“For the past academic year I have filled the role of Student Governor for South Staffordshire College. This role required me to attend scheduled meetings with other governing bodies and staff, going over things such as documents and decisions relating to the college. Meaning that I represented the view of the students at the college, providing a student point of view to various matters. Similarly to this is my role of course representative, which also required me to attend scheduled meetings and provide my input as a student. However this role requires me to talk to my peers, taking down any concerns or issues which will then be mentioned in meetings.

Therefore being the voice of my fellow peers on my course, and ensuring any concerns are voiced and resolved”.

What Has Been Gained From These Roles?

“From filling in these roles I feel that my Curriculum Vitae has been greatly enhanced, presenting employers with an eye catching role that could potentially give me the advantage over others when obtaining a job. By attending many meetings I have also developed my professional communication skills greatly, preparing me for the future if found in a similar role. Being able to support my peers and fix their issues has also proved to be pleasant, being able to support your peers to the highest degree”.

Conclusion

“In conclusion I am very happy to have obtained this role as I have developed many vital skills, as well as greatly enhanced my career prospects for the future. Therefore I would advise anyone else thinking about applying for these roles to do so”.
