South Staffordshire College maintains its accreditation to the matrix standard

South Staffordshire College is delighted to have maintained its accreditation to the matrix standard following a recent assessment.

The matrix standard is the international quality standard for organisations that deliver information, advice and / or guidance (IAG). The standard is owned by the Department of Education and is managed by The Growth Company on their behalf.

The matrix assessment took place over 8 days and saw the assessor deep dive across the college to look at the way the organisation offers information, advice and guidance. The assessor interviewed 7 partner employers, held 5 focus groups with learners and interviewed 35 staff members all holding different roles at different levels of the organisation.

Feedback received in the report was positive about the college and its approach to offering impartial IAG with the report remarking that “IAG is very much seen by all staff as being an integral part of their role and purpose and is evident throughout the learner journey”.

Speaking on behalf of the college, Learner Services Manager, Ali Hanson said “Gaining re-accreditation of the matrix standard is a fantastic achievement for the college. At the heart of high-quality Information, advice and guidance is strong leadership, supported staff, excellent partnership working, effective systems and processes and a drive for continuous improvement.

It is a credit to all the staff that strive to deliver sound impartial IAG to our learners throughout their journey with us, whether a school leaver, apprentice, mature student looking to retrain, or an elective home educated learner, to ensure they develop their employability, resilience and self-confidence to aid their future progression.”
