A successful bid for £500,000 to the Stoke and Staffordshire LEP (SSLEP) and matched funding from Cannock Chase District Council means £1,000,000 will be added to the development of the Cannock Engineering Academy which will boost skills and secure jobs in and around the Cannock region and beyond.  The new state-of-the-art Engineering Academy is set to open this September and will be a based at Cannock Campus part of South Staffordshire College . The Engineering Academy will provide courses, training opportunities, short courses and apprenticeships for all levels and abilities.State-of-the-art facilities are very limited locally and emerging technologies need to feature in any engineering curriculum delivery to ensure courses are relevant and therefore beneficial for engineering companies.  Efficient working practices are more important than ever and factories are having to evolve to accommodate these changes. Smart factories of the future will all include sophisticated software solutions to collect, transfer and process data to analyse, simulate and improve all processes.
