    As an excellent practical introduction to hydraulics and pneumatics, this course provides instruction in safety, circuitry, componentry, design, construction and fault finding. Instruction takes place both in the classroom and in Seta’s state-of-the-art workshop facilities.

    This course is ideally suited to those with little or no hydraulics or pneumatics experience.

  • Required qualifications

    No qualifications, just an interest in engineering, either mechanical or electrical.

  • What skills will I develop?

    • Safety relevant to hydraulics and pneumatics
    • Interpretation of hydraulic and pneumatics drawing and symbols
    • Hydraulic and pneumatics circuits – components: pumps; pipe lines; filtration; cylinders; valves; and control mechanisms
    • Circuit design – theory and practice of sequence control
    • Practical circuit construction
    • Fault finding on hydraulic and pneumatic circuits
  • Careers

    Upon completion of this course, participants will have an overview of the most important hydraulics and pneumatics processes.

  • English and maths

    Whilst at South Staffordshire College, you will be given the opportunity to improve your maths and English skills by continuing to study at GCSE or Functional Skill level. We have a great team working alongside your main course tutors with the skills and knowledge to improve your maths and English skills.

  • Other important information

    You are required to purchase safety boots, work gear and details of these will be discussed at interview. All other equipment such as power tools and safety aids, PPE, are supplied by the college as required.
