    Are you thinking about a career in digital media, be it video, photography, animation, journalism, social media, marketing or in short, content creation?

    It is often said that content is king as our appetite and hunger for what’s new appears on our handheld devices and what will be our next fix from funny memes to full on TV and film production.

    This course is for students who are creative and driven, in wanting to explore and develop content across a wide variety of media and broadcast mediums including specific technical and professional skills / knowledge, vital for a career in the creative industries.

    You will explore a wide range of practical and technical skills, in addition to underpinning theory regarding what is a £6 billion industry in the UK.

    This T-level course will help you boost your employment prospects by gaining extensive experience on a work placement in a real-world environment.

    Your T-Level will be worth UCAS points – a T-Level Distinction* is worth the same as 3 A Levels at A* (168 points) – and will be recognised by universities and other education providers so you can choose to continue studying if you wish.

  • Required qualifications

    You will need 5 GCSE’s in the 4-9 range including a 5 in English and a 4 in Maths

  • What skills will I develop?

    The core skills and knowledge of the T-Level in Media, Broadcast and Production includes exploration of the following over the 2 years of study and work experience:

      • The creative economy
      • The individual in the creative industries
      • Cultural context and vocabulary
      • Audience and consumer needs
      • Legal and regulatory requirements
      • Professional standards and conduct in the workplace
      • Equality, diversity and inclusion requirements
      • Research skills
      • Project methodology and administration
      • Continued professional development

    In addition to this, you will also complete a module dedicated to Content Creation and Production which will include:

    • Generating ideas for content development for different platforms
    • Plan the production of the required content for different platforms
    • Create and deliver the required content for the chosen platforms and/or venues (including but not exclusive to moving/still image, audio and written word) coordinating with others where appropriate
    • Evaluate the extent to which the content and plan meet objectives taking on board feedback

    The UK had an estimated 2.3m creative industries jobs, including 1.6m permanent roles, and a further 663,000 self-employed, based on official 2021 statistics. Creative industries accounted for 6.9 per cent of all UK jobs in 2021, up from 5.8 per cent in 2015. (DCMS statistics) and that there is a positive trend in how the sector has recovered post pandemic with the average salary ranging from £30,000 to £90,000 per year.

    • Journalist (Starter salary (avg): £18,500 – Experienced salary: £40,000)
    • Picture desk assistant/researcher (Starter salary (avg): £18,000 – Experienced salary: £40,000)
    • Social media coordinator (Starter salary (avg): £18,000 – Experienced salary: £35,000)
    • Camera operator (Average salary: £32,760)
    • Events manager (Starter salary (avg): £17,000 – Experienced salary: £80,000)
    • Digital Designer and Content Creator (Starter salary (Avg) £15,825 – £38,547)
    • Influencer (£16,000 – £30,000 a year)
    • Film and television direction roles have on average, the highest salary, at £57,859 per year in the UK.
  • Work experience

    As part of your T-Level, you will complete an in-depth industry placement with an employer focused on developing your practical and technical skills. The placement will last a minimum of 45 days, but can last longer.

    Your placement will be completed around you course. You will get a valuable experience in the workplace and employers get early sight of the new talent in their industry.

    We will support employers offering industry placements. This will include assistance with paperwork, a careful planning process and support with designing the industry placement.

  • English and maths

    English, maths, and digital skills are embedded throughout the course content. Employability and study skills are taught alongside the core content.
