Sector-based Work Academies
A way of businesses supporting the local community by providing sector based work academy programmes for local people in your workplace.
Looking for employment?
Sector-based work academies will help you return to employment. Delivered in conjunction with employers who are recruiting, the programmes will help prepare those in receipt of unemployment benefits to apply for jobs in different areas of work. Placements or employer-led activities will help meet your immediate and future skills gaps, enabling you to gain employment. You could be back into work in no time and, whilst you are retraining, you will not lose your benefits!
SWAPs typically last up to 6 weeks (although some specialist programmes may last up to 16 weeks) and contain three main components to help your clients back to work:
- pre-employment training
- work experience placements
- a guaranteed job interview or help with an employer’s recruitment process
