South Staffordshire College is delighted to announce that Stafford and District Riding for the Disabled (RDA) have selected its Rodbaston College as a new venue for some of its riding sessions.

The RDA holds five riding sessions per week, three of the sessions for teenagers and adults will be held at Rodbaston College with two children’s sessions continuing at Dunston Heath stables. Each riding session is held by an RDA assessed volunteer coach/instructor who is supported by a team of dedicated volunteers.

Fiona Round [Chair at RDA] said “We are excited to have signed a partnership with South Staffordshire College. It’s Rodbaston Campus is a large rural estate which offers great schooling facilities and hacking environment for our riders. We are looking forward to the collaboration opportunities ahead”.

The partnership with RDA will bring an exciting opportunity for equine learners studying at Rodbaston College. Learners will be able to engage directly with the RDA and support with coaching its riders.

Jamie Cook, Curriculum Manager for Equine and landbased subjects at South Staffordshire College said “It is fantastic to be working with RDA which is a long-established charity to promote well-being, self-esteem, confidence, physical mobility and independence on a horse for its riders. We are excited to explore collaboration opportunities with the RDA for our equine learners at Rodbaston College and support RDA to increase accessibility to riding”.

Stafford and District RDA have helped around 450 children and adults to benefit from riding over the last 30 years. Without the work of so many dedicated volunteers this would not have been possible. To allow the RDA to continue to help many more children and adults in future years volunteers will always be needed. If you are able to volunteer some time to support, please contact the RDA using [staffordrda@gmail.com] where full training will be provided.
