  • Application guide for school leavers

Here’s how to apply for September 2025

Step 1: Complete an online application form on our website for the course that you are interested in. Each application will receive an email acknowledgement so that you know it has been received.

Step 2: After you have submitted your application one of our friendly Learner Services team will contact you to confirm either a face to face or telephone interview (IAG session), depending on your chosen course.

Please note: some interviews take place during our Open Days, so if you are invited to attend on a Saturday that will be during an Open Event. Our courses fill up fast, so it is important you attend to secure your place. During your interview our teaching staff will talk through your career aspirations, predicted grades and whether you require any additional support. This just helps us to make sure you have applied for the right course to support your needs so you can achieve your future career goals.

To assist you with remembering the date and time of your interview you will receive a call from one of the team the day before, as well as a text reminder on the day.

Step 3: If the course is suitable for your requirements, you will be given a verbal offer. If you agree to this verbal offer you will receive a follow-up confirmation email asking you to confirm the offer by clicking on a link in the email. By doing this it secures your place at the college, so please try and respond as soon as possible as places fill up quickly.

Step 4: The first stage of the enrolment process requires you to complete an online, Pre-enrolment form, upload a photo and digitally sign the enrolment learning agreement. This information will be sent to you via email during July/early August 2025.

(Please note: the photo will be used for your college ID badge so you will need to be professional which means the photo should be of you and only you. Please do not include objects, pets etc. and avoid busy backgrounds. Just keep it simple).

Step 5: The second stage of the enrolment process requires you to come into college. An invitation will be emailed to you during July/ early August 2025 detailing the day and time you will need to attend.

Sometimes this email can land in your junk/spam folder so please check there if you haven’t received it. If you have any concerns regarding your enrolment, please email enrolments@southstaffs.ac.uk

Coming to enrol will give you the opportunity to meet some of the teaching staff face-to-face who will confirm your course level and answer any questions that you may have. You will also speak to the math’s and English team and Learning Support, if required.

Please don’t forget to bring along your:

    • GCSE results
    • Proof of ID – passport, driving license, provisional license

(Please note: If you haven’t done as well as you expected please don’t worry, there will be several options available for you to consider. Our teaching staff will discuss these options with you).

The final part of the enrolment process is with our Learner Services team who will check all your details, retake your photo if the uploaded one isn’t suitable (as detailed above) and complete your enrolment to secure your place.

Please make sure that you don’t miss this final stage as without it your course place isn’t secure and could be given to someone else.

The enrolment process in most cases takes about 20-30 minutes but it can be longer if you need to see the Learning Support and/or math’s and English team.

Step 6: We look forward to seeing you at enrolment where you will officially become a South Staffordshire College learner and start your career journey with us. Congratulations!
