  • Is this course for you?

    This 10 week course will prepare you for a career in the motor industry or give you the knowledge you require for your own personal goals.

  • Required qualifications

    No qualifications required but enthusiasm and commitment.

  • What skills will I develop?

    The course is intended to give you the confidence to carry out simple maintenance of your car and fault finding. The topics to be covered are:

    • Changing a wheel and tyre maintenance (Legal Requirements)
    • Routine checks and maintenance (Oils, bulbs and windscreen wipers)
    • Ignition (Spark plugs and HT leads)
    • Battery Removal and refitting (different battery tests)
    • Service checks (Remove and replace engine oil / Engine Coolant / Oil filter)

    In addition to the tasks identified the course will ensure that you undertake tasks adhering to Health & Safety guidelines and how to select the appropriate tools and use them correctly.

  • Careers

    You can progress onto qualification courses that will help you gain employment into the Motor Vehicle industry.

    Motor Vehicle and associated industries cover activities such as the maintenance and repair, body repair, refinishing and valeting; MOT testing; and the roadside recovery of motor vehicles. Most of these activities are carried out at garages and ‘fast fit’ centres, they are also undertaken at customers’ premises, both commercial and domestic, and at the roadside.

  • English and maths

    Maths and English are embedded into the course.

  • Other important information

    All tools and equipment will be provided but you will be required to have the necessary PPE (personal protective clothing in the form of overalls and Steel Toe Cap Boots (or other suitable protective footwear).

    NB – please wait until the course has been confirmed before purchasing any clothing to save any unnecessary expense.

    You have to be aged 19 years and above to join this course.
