  • Is this course for you?

    Are you already a qualified hairdresser? Do you want to advance on skills within hairdressing? Then this course is for you.

    An advanced, hairdressing programme which includes a level 4 colour correction unit. You will experience working in a real salon environment where skills are practiced and performed on real paying clients.

    Uniform and kit are a compulsory requirement of the course.

    Uniform (Cost to be confirm during enrolment)

    • Black trousers
    • Black flat shoes
    • Black tunic

    Full hairdressing kit (Cost to be confirmed approximately £200)
    This includes training heads, scissors, combs, clips and brushes.

    Uniform and kit packages will be discussed further at interview and order forms will be made available at enrolment.  All kit and uniform will need to be purchased through the college supplies and not independently.

  • Required qualifications

    You will have needed to complete a level 2 hairdressing qualification within the last 5 years in order to start our Level 3 course.

  • What skills will I develop?

    This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to advance your skills as a hairdresser.

    Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of health and safety, client consultation, and products, tools and equipment. You will also develop a range of technical skills enabling you to effectively consult with clients, colour, and cut and finish clients hair to an industry level. Advanced skills in Bridal and colour correction will also be taught.

    You will also develop interpersonal skills, which will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.

  • Careers

    There are currently 5% more jobs in the West midlands when compared nationally, with this trend continuing to grow in the area over the next few years. It’s a good time to pursue a career within the area and our level 3 qualification will give you skills and confidence for you to thrive.

    Once you have completed the advanced hairdressing course you are qualified to work in a salon as a stylist, colour technician, or bridal specialist. You may decide to progress onto our barbering course or continue with further education. Skills you gain from our course will take you in the vast hairdressing industry with opportunities to work on a cruise ship, hotel/Spa/hospital/theatre/film and tv/rent a chair or become a salon manager, assessor/trainer are just a few routes you may decide to take on your career journey.

    A typical salon wage for a level 3 hairdresser on average is anything from £7 – 11 per hour, with a yearly salary averaging £13,000- £26,000+ depending on age, experience and area.

  • Work experience

    Work experience is an essential part of the course- you will be expected to attend a realistic salon to achieve a minimum of 40 hours across the course.

    This will ensure you are learning the required skills alongside your studies and gaining valuable experience working with a range of clients.

  • English and maths

    Maths and English is an essential part of the course- If you have not met the required grade of a 4 at GCSE you will be working towards this.

    Maths and English is embedded in all aspects of the course, through angles, measuring and reception duties.
