    This course is aimed at those who are already employed within the care sector or those who are seeking employment in the sector.

    The qualification aims to meet a training gap identified by the Care Quality Commission, covering areas such as basic oral health care, how to assess the mouth and the importance of person-centred approaches.

  • Required qualifications

    There are no formal entry requirements, however, a good level of literacy is required in order to complete these qualifications – reading, writing and comprehension, as these are knowledge-based qualifications. You need to be able to understand what you have read within the learning materials and answer the assessment questions in your own words and in full sentence

  • What skills will I develop?

    This qualification consists of 5 mandatory units:

    • Oral hygiene equipment and support
    • Principles for providing oral care in a health and social care setting
    • Principles of oral health care
    • Principles of promoting a person-centred approach to oral hygiene
    • Providing oral care in care settings
  • Careers

    Learners can progress to specific areas within health and social care sectors.

  • English and maths

    You should have a good level of English to complete the course. However, English and maths is not formally assessed as part of your course.

    This qualification is delivered via an online learning platform, with tutor support.
