    When enrolling on this course, you will develop an in-depth look and insight into what is meant by ‘Mental Health’ and ‘Mental Health Problems’. One in four British adults experiences at least one mental health problem each year. The most common is mixed anxiety and depression, but there are so many other issues, which have a huge impact on a person’s life and the people around them. This is why this course is essential for people to study, as almost everyone will be affected by a mental health problem at some point in their life.

    The units that we will cover are:

    • Understanding stress
    • Understanding anxiety
    • Understanding phobias
    • Understanding depression
    • Understanding postnatal depression
    • Understanding bipolar disorder
    • Understanding schizophrenia
    • Understanding dementia
    • Understanding eating disorders
    • Understanding attention deficit hyperactivity disorder – ADHD
    • Understanding obsessive compulsive disorder – OCD
    • Understanding post-traumatic stress disorder – PTSD

    Each unit is interesting and enjoyable and case-studies are provided for you to learn from and reflect upon.

    The qualification is suitable for anyone who wishes to increase their knowledge of mental health problems, the factors that cause mental ill-health and the ways that mental health problems can be managed. The course is also suitable for those who already work in this area, anyone who wants to secure a job linked to mental health and anyone who wants to gain more knowledge for personal reasons.

  • Required qualifications

    No prior qualifications are needed to enrol onto the course. A good level of English is required.

  • What skills will I develop?

    This course will develop your knowledge of a range of mental-health problems. This could support you in your role in the workplace and could develop your skills with how best to manage situations with individuals with mental health problems.

    This course will broaden your knowledge of the most commonly diagnosed mental health conditions. It helps to develop awareness and explains the signs and symptoms of these conditions and how they may affect the day-to-day lives of those affected. By understanding these conditions, it can help give an insight into how to help and offer support to those who may need it.

    • Gain a nationally recognised qualification.
    • Improve your skills to help create a long-standing career pathway in your chosen industry.
    • Courses are delivered as distance learning, allowing you to choose when and where to study.
    • Personal tutors are assigned to ensure you have the support needed to succeed.
