    Level 1 Diploma in Beauty Therapy is a vocational qualification designed for learners seeking an introduction to a career in the Beauty industry. This course gives you the opportunity to learn new skills as you embark on your journey into the prestigious world of Beauty Therapy.

    As a trainee therapist, you will learn in a training salon furnished with industry standard equipment and working reception. You will explore the basic treatment skills following practical demonstrations of facials, makeup, manicure, pedicure, nail art and face painting. Once you are proficient in these treatments, the salon will welcome paying clients for you to build a clientele and hone your interpersonal skills.

    Level 1 Beauty Therapy will give you a guide into the beauty industry and allow you to progress onto Level 2 where you will gain further salon skills to prepare you for working within the beauty industry.

    When you begin your journey as a trainee beauty therapist, you will be expected to wear a uniform and purchase a kit which will become your tools to your success. The cost of these will approximately be £300. The college endeavours to provide students with the best experience during their qualification, thus additional trips will be a part of the college calendar. These will also require additional costs; however, the college is here to assist with bursaries which can be discussed further at interview. The college expects all learner to arrive to every class with all required equipment, uniform and a determination to work.

  • Required qualifications

    You will need to have three GCSEs at Grade 1-3, including Maths or English. You will be required to complete maths and English qualifications at college alongside your vocational course. You will need be an enthusiastic and dedicated learner who is passionate about the industry, and willing to learn and try new skills.

  • What skills will I develop?

    By completing this qualification, you will gain confidence, become a beauty therapist offering basic treatments including; manicure, pedicure, makeup, facials, nail art, face painting.

    Your essential knowledge will include client care and professional image working on our reception, health and safety and anatomy and physiology. You will learn through a variety of assessments, including practical and written where you will receive feedback from both your peers and your tutors.

    Once you have completed your Level 1 Diploma in Beauty Therapy qualification you can progress to Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy. Completing Level 2 would then open you up to a world of opportunity. If you would like further training you could complete other courses, such as Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy or Level 2 Diploma in Nail Technology

    Career opportunities following a level 2 and 3 qualification in Beauty could be:

  • Work experience

    Work experience is a compulsory aspect of the course. This is designed to harmonise the theory you will learn in class and the real-world applications of the course. Through work experience, you will learn valuable skills, such as interpersonal skills, independence, confidence and commercial awareness. Currently you will have to secure 30 hours within a salon for your work experience during the level 1 programme.

  • English and maths

    English and Maths qualifications are an integral part of the working world and will help you prosper. If you do not have English or Maths qualification at Grade 4 (Grade C) then the college is here to help.

    You will attend classes where you will be assisted through the qualification, completing the GSCE exam at the end of the academic year. Within our L1 course you will develop your maths and English skills through; client consultations, costing of treatments, taking bookings and working as part of a team.
