  • Is this course for you?

The popularity of spoken word audio continues to grow worldwide, and podcasts are an excellent way to communicate a message; they can be listened to on demand, and when convenient to the audience. Podcasts are an excellent form of communication whether it is a business selling their ideas and products, or people wanting to share and discuss their own ideas and hobbies. Whether you are a business wanting to use podcasts as a marketing tool, a charity or organisation wanting to share your work, or an individual wanting to discuss your own hobby or topic you are passionate about, podcasts could be for you.

This course will take you through setting up a podcast – from generating the idea through to setting it up, tips on recording, involving others, through to scheduling regular output and building your own community of listeners.

  • Required qualifications

No formal qualifications are needed. Some basic computer skills will be required, and if you decide to make a podcast you (or your presenter) will need to be fairly comfortable talking into a microphone.

  • What skills will I develop?

The introductory course will give learners the opportunity to develop idea into a podcast. With support from a podcaster, you’ll learn how to develop your show, and be given tips and tricks on how to launch and run a podcast.

You’ll get the opportunity to hear from the lived experience of someone with their own experience of podcasting and running a successful podcast and learn how to create a community of your own listeners who may well share your own interests.

Feedback from listeners is just as important, so you will learn how to benefit from their input to improve the quality of how you share your message.

  • Careers

This course will equip learners with knowledge to start their own podcast.

There is no formal qualification that will guarantee you a successful career, but it will help the student identify what makes a successful podcast, whether it be profitable from a business perspective or creating a podcast brand that can lead to social media influencer possibilities.

  • Other important information

There is nothing else needed to study the course.

However, if you decide to go ahead and create your own podcast you will learn about the costs involved with production of a podcast.
